Did you know that Mud Foods and Hampshire Cheese Company have collaborated to produce a sumptuous limited edition Steak and Tunworth Cheese Pie to celebrate British Pie Week?
Britain has an outstanding reputation internationally for producing a vast array of sublime pies – and today you can find something for everyone. Founded in 2007 by Jus-Rol, a pastry-rolling company, this festival of all things pie has evolved into an annual national event, the highlight of which is the British Pie Awards, held (of course!) in Melton Mowbray.
At Hampshire Cheese Company our favourite pies are crafted by the outstanding local producer Mud Foods. Christian Barrington started making pies in Midhurst, West Sussex, in 2009. A small team of passionate ‘pie-fectionists’ produce Mud Food’s wide range of award winning supreme quality meat, vegetarian and vegan pies from their own recipes with locally-sourced ingredients.
Created especially for this years British Pie Week, we are delighted to be collaborating with Mud Foods to launch the ‘Steak and Tunworth Cheese Pie’.
The pie combines our multi-award winning Tunworth with tender chunks of hand-cut steak and a smooth béchamel sauce. With its creamy consistency and distinct aroma, Tunworth gently melts into this rich and decadent pie. And all enveloped in Mud Pies’ signature golden, buttery shortcrust pastry, adding the perfect crisp contrast to this sublime filling.
Ingredients include hand-cut, grass-fed steak; Tunworth cheese; béchamel sauce; milk, beef stock and dijon mustard.
