There’s always something going on at Hampshire Cheese and we were delighted to have three head chefs from local luxury Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire visit our creamery to learn about how we make our artisan cheeses, Tunworth and Winslade.
We like to extend the opportunity for local stockists and restaurants to visit us. They relish the opportunity to see first-hand the artisan cheesemaking process and learn what makes Tunworth and Winslade so unique.
Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire is proud to support local quality suppliers, and nothing beats the occasional trip away from the kitchen to learn first hand about the produce they use throughout their menus. So, three of their top chefs donned the necessary overalls, wellies and hair nets and enjoyed a few hours meeting Stacey and the team, learning about our artisan cheesemaking process, as well the obligatory cheese tasting of course!
Talha Barkin, Executive Chef, Mokhtar Elkholy, Executive Sous Chef, Marco De Boni, Chef de Cuisine, were intrigued to learn about our daily routine in the creamery and the skill involved in making our awarding winning Tunworth and Winslade. From learning about the local milk and fermenting the cheese to feeling the curds to check they’re just right and ready for pouring into moulds, the trio saw the precision and expertise needed to make our cheeses. The taste testing of different stages of maturity of the cheeses proved fascinating and each had their own views on the flavours they were tasting at each stage. When it came to tasting the ready to serve cheeses, again each had their favourites and preferred way to serve and cook them.
The Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire is a luxury countryside retreat that offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with exquisite food, whether you’re staying for the night or booking in for a wonderful meal. Their signature restaurant, Wild Carrot, is a contemporary British dining venue. The expertise of their chefs is evident in their spectacular dishes which incorporate seasonal and locally sourced ingredients from Hampshire markets as well as further afield.
